A Day In The Life Of A Dental Student

Today was a tiring day. I'm still not really used to the idea of being a final year dental student...yet. I guess the idea of becoming a qualified dentist in 8 months is rather daunting. It was my turn to be on duty today, taking patient's case histories in the conservative dentistry department where they do all the fillings. Patients just kept pouring in, and since I was the only one, it was almost scary, but of course, all patients must come to an end.

In the afternoon, I had a patient with a broken front tooth and so, "built" back the tooth with A2 shade composite filling (its tooth coloured). Coming Monday, I've got a patient that needs RCT on 11 and 12. Every day is tiring, but most days, its worth it. Nothing beats having patients happy with the filling that you have done for them, or their joy at having good, new dentures which you have made for them (with help from lecturers, of course). The obvious delight that some patients show to you, as their dentist is a wonderful thing!

Ah, of course there are those bad days when nothing ever seems to go right. The days when I make a mistake in some procedures, and then getting a whole lecture about how important every step is, and feeling a complete idiot over the whole thing, really can really get my mood down. After all, I didn't mean to make that mistake. Anyway, that's why I'm still a student and NOT a dentist yet.

There's one thing I can be happy about today, though.

I GOT ALL MY PRE-CLINICAL RCT WORK ON EXTRACTED TEETH SIGNED! (still got 4 molars to go, but, all in all, I'm still happy!)

What made you all happy today?
OINK! ME PIGGY! <3

Pics to follow when I have time!

Till then, Cheers, hugs & kisses,

 PIGGY

P.S: I had a spanking good dinner today (most people wouldn't agree, but when you're hanging out with one of your best friends, everything is just great! Nothing like a good game of table tennis to end a tiring day!)
